How it works

From photo to answer, in three steps.

  1. Photograph the plant

Leaves, stem and soil: those are the three places where the problem shows.

The screen for photographing the plant
  2. Answer two questions

The name, if you know it. Then when you last watered it and what the soil feels like: that separates a water problem from a light problem.

The question “When did you last water it?” with four answers
  3. Read the cause, and how sure it is

The most likely cause, the alternatives ranked, and what to do now — with a number from 0 to 100.

Features

It stays with the plant after the answer, too.

  • The room

Two plants in the same room with the same problem? It points that out: often it is the room, not the plants.

  • The recovery

On day 3, 7 and 14 it asks how things went, and your answer changes the plan.

  • The light

Three seconds of the sensor where the plant lives, and the number goes into the diagnosis. On Android.

  • The mistake

“The diagnosis was wrong” is a button. If the plant gets worse, the app is the one that asks.

  • The reminders

They start from the species’ own values and you change them: days and time, plant by plant.

  • Light and dark

The theme follows your phone, or you pick it yourself.

What people ask us most about Flora Clue.

All questions
When does Flora Clue launch?

Soon. It arrives on Google Play first, for Android; the iPhone version comes later. We will publish the date on this site.

Is it free?

You can look at a sample analysis for free, as many times as you like. To analyse your own plants there is a 7-day free trial, with 5 analyses a day and 10 across the whole week, and then a subscription. The trial starts from the store and you can cancel it whenever you want.

Do I need to know the plant’s name?

It helps, but it is not required: the common name is enough. If you do not know it, the answer says so, because without the species the confidence drops.

What if the plant is fine?

It tells you. You do not get an invented diagnosis: you get the plan to keep it that way.
